Dr. Pascal Vranckx is a Clinical Consultant in Interventional Cardiology and Medical Director of Cardiac Critical Care Services at the Hartcentrum Hasselt in Belgium. Dr. Vranckx is also clinical consultant and chair of the Clinical Events Committee Core Laboratories at Cardialysis, Clinical Trial Management-Core Laboratories, in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Previously Dr. Vranckx was clinical director of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at the Thoraxcenter, Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam.

Dr. Vranckx obtained his doctor’s degree in medical science in 1989 at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, where Dr. Vranckx also gained postdoctoral degrees in intensive care medicine and hospital management and public health.

Dr. Vranckx is a member of the European Society of Cardiology, the Belgian Working Group on Acute Cardiology and the Working Group on Acute Cardiac Care, the Belgian Society of Intensive Care Medicine and Emergency Medicine, the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine, and is also a member of the medical committee of the Belgian Red Cross. Dr. Vranckx has authored over 50 publications and 11 books and is an associate editor of the ESC Textbook of Acute Cardiology and Intensive Care Medicine 2010, editor of the European Heart Journal of Acute Cardiovascular Care and is deputy editor of the EuroIntervention Journal.
