Prof. Windecker currently serves as physician-in-chief and director of invasive cardiology at the Department of Cardiology, Swiss Cardiovascular Center Bern, Switzerland. He also is an executive board member of the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) at Bern University Hospital and co-director of clinical research in the department of cardiovascular diseases.
Prof. Windecker’s principal activity surrounds clinical services in the section of invasive cardiology. He is involved in clinical research and evaluation of new devices. His principal research interest focus on the evaluation of intracoronary devices for the treatment of coronary artery disease. He also has an interest in research related to structural heart disease including transcatheter aortic valve implantation, PFO as well as percutaneous left ventricular assist devices. He is involved in continuous medical education and teaching of medical students, housestaff, fellows, and tutor for interventional cardiologist. Prof. Windecker is currently President-Elect of the European Association of Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (EAPCI). He is a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC).
